LAY-Z-SPA MAINTENANCE, TROUBLE-SHOOTING & SYMPTOMS

From filter cartridge cleaners to scale, oil, grease and foam inhibitors.  These specialty chemicals are specially formulated for perfect hassle free spa care, and can save you money on repairs and replacement components.  In hot water environments with lots of dissolved solids, de-greasing spas and preventing scale is especially important.

WATER TESTING

Water testing is important for safety and to correctly dose your spa chemicals. With Lay-z-spa test strips you can check you chlorine levels, your pH balance as well as other useful indicators. Simply dip the strip and compare it to the colour chart on the pot, to see where you are on each scale. You would then consult your Lay-z-spa chemicals containers or guides to work out how much of each chemical to add to adjust each level by the required amount. Before long, you will get a feel for how much you need to add just by looking at your strips.

SANITISATION - KILL BACTERIA

Due to the warm nature of your spa water, it is the perfect breeding ground for bacteria and left unchecked will quickly deteriorate into a stinking green mess of pond water. This is why we regularly top up the Lay-z-spa with sanitisation chemicals, most commonly in the form of chlorine. There are numerous brands and different types of chlorine, but you will want stabilised chlorine granules or tablets. Your Lay-z-spa comes with a floating chemical dispenser, for use with minitabs (or 20grm tablets). However, tablets are slow dissolving so gases can be trap inside the spa which can bleach any hot tubs surface above the waterline, or even rot and corrode the material. For this reason we recommend spa chlorine granules, which dissolve quicky allowing you to replace the cover after a short time slowly damaging your Lay-z-spa.

PH BALANCE

Balancing you pH level ensures your chlorine granules are working effectively and also decreases scale formation inside your Lay-z-spa. But most importantly, incorrectly balanced pH can cause eye and skin irritations. After testing, you would either add pH plus or pH minus to the water to bring the pH level down to within the ideal range of 7.2 - 7.6 on your test strip.
